  40. Once again, my sincerest thanks!  This seemed to work a charm; I don't
  41. know why I didn't download the latest one the first time though...

  43. It looks like the symbolic link which is supposed to point to one of
  44. the 06-08 files is actually pointing to a 08-06 file instead; this
  45. could have been the reason.

  47. Unfortunately, whilst this problem has been solved (it can detect the
  48. ethernet card) I still can't seem to install :-(

  50. It keeps stopping when it says
  51. 'Retrieving base/hdlist...' or similar.  The DeltaNet in/out arrows on
  52. the other machine go red, so contact is being made, but it just sits
  53. there for about a minute then returns to the screen for entering setup
  54. information.

  56. The logs on the ftp server say
  57. 'Connect from zen'
  58. 'Login OK for ian'
  59. 'Connection closed'

  61. I can ftp the file using Risc OS and sftp or Fresco, but linux
  62. doesn't seem to want to play.  Could it be that I am using
  63. 'illegal' IP addresses?  I am using 1.0.0.1 and 1.0.0.2, which
  64. (IIRC) are allocated to Sun.  This shouldn't be a problem should it?

  66. Also, when I cancel and return to the page where I enter the linux
  67. machine's IP address and netmask etc, if I alter certain parts, it
  68. puts a tacky message saying 'rebooting system' and then hangs. 
  69. ctrl-alt-del is required.

  71. Anyone got any ideas?  Also, how does everyone else get the
  72. main distribution RPMS files?  Downloading them with a 28K modem
  73. would seem to be a little expensive!
